Health, Safety, Security & Environment

An incident does not only hurt people — it stops the job. Our HSSE policy exists so that neither happens.

Our position

Safety is how we protect your schedule

Sierra Guinea Trading applies a written health, safety, security and environment policy to every contract, regardless of size. It is not a document that lives in a tender folder — it governs how we inspect vehicles, induct drivers, plan routes and behave on your site.

We work to the client's site rules wherever they are stricter than our own, and our supervisory staff are on site to make sure that actually happens.

What we commit to

Our HSSE objectives

Six objectives, reviewed against every mobilisation rather than filed once a year.

1

Protect people first

Prevent injury to our employees, our clients' staff and the communities along our haul routes. No delivery target justifies an unsafe movement.

2

Keep equipment safe to operate

Maintain every vehicle to a standard where it is safe to put on a public road and on a client site, and take it off the road when it is not.

3

Comply with the law and the site

Meet Sierra Leonean statutory requirements and adopt the client's site rules wherever they set a higher bar than our own.

4

Limit environmental impact

Control dust, spillage and waste on haul routes and at loading points, and avoid damage to watercourses and farmland.

5

Train and induct everyone

No driver or operator works on a client site without induction into that site's hazards, rules and reporting lines.

6

Report and learn

Record incidents and near-misses honestly, investigate the cause and change the practice — not the paperwork.

How it works in practice

The everyday practices that turn the policy into behaviour.

✓

Pre-mobilisation vehicle inspection, with defects corrected before dispatch rather than after arrival.

✓

Preventive maintenance scheduled against running hours, not deferred until failure.

✓

Driver induction into each client site before the first load moves.

✓

Enforced conduct standards for speed, loading, tipping and reversing on site.

✓

Personal protective equipment issued and worn, and checked by supervisory staff.

✓

Dust suppression on haul roads using our own water bowser where conditions require it.

✓

Incident and near-miss reporting to the client under their timeline, not ours.
